💙Practising daily mindfulness literally rewires your brain, and alters how you perceive and respond to stress
💙Research has shown that even 8 weeks of daily mindfulness resulted in changes in the brain of volunteers - an increase in the size of the hippocampus (memory and emotion control area of the brain) and reduction in the size of the amygdala (the alarm centre of the brain)
💙This means that when you experience stress your brain and body respond differently - your fight or flight response reduces, and your ability to regulate this response improves
💙Even people with chronic stress or childhood trauma can rewire their brain and alter their subconscious reaction to future stressors
💙Apps such as calm, headspace, and smiling minds are great to start with, try setting yourself a goal of doing 5 minutes a day for 2 weeks, and see how much better you feel!!
